Playa La Cocina, a hidden paradise in La Graciosa
In the south of the island of La Graciosa is one of the most spectacular unspoilt beaches in the Canary Islands, the beach of La Cocina, also known as the beach of Montaña Amarilla.
Montaña Amarilla is a unique place in La Graciosa. Its volcanic and wild environment, with its sulphur yellow, almost metallic colours, contrasts spectacularly with the turquoise blue and emerald green of the sea. This contrast creates a landscape of great beauty that leaves no visitor indifferent.
Tourist attraction
La Cocina beach is a small cove of white sand and crystalline waters. It has a length of more than 100 metres and is at the foot of the Montaña Amarilla, standing out for its turquoise waters, as well as for its tranquillity, as it is well sheltered from the strong currents of the area.
This virgin beach is a hidden paradise in La Graciosa. It is an ideal place to enjoy nature and a swim in crystal-clear waters, perfect for relaxing and disconnecting from the world.
In summer and Easter, this shore is usually quite busy, as many tourists who visit the beach of La Francesa decide to continue their route here. However, the rest of the year the cove is practically empty and is an ideal place for nudism.
How to get to La Cocina beach?
In order to enjoy this beautiful shore, there are only two possibilities: walking or by boat. Whether we travel by 4x4 taxis or by bicycle, we will only be able to get to the Francesa beach.
It is located at a distance of 6 kilometres from the island's capital Caleta de Sebo, which makes it a route of approximately one and a half hours.
If we want to get there from La Francesa beach, we must head towards Montaña Amarilla, taking this volcano as a reference point throughout the journey, taking about 15 minutes to get there.
Once there we can go down to the cove to enjoy a well-deserved swim, although if you like challenges we recommend you also climb to the top of the mountain from the side path. You will be able to enjoy spectacular views.
Although we warn you of its high difficulty due to its unevenness, (more than 130 metres in less than a kilometre) and its difficult terrain.
Enjoy the tranquillity of the sea and its splendid sunset.
The seabed of the beach is a real paradise for diving enthusiasts. There you can find a great variety of fish, corals and other marine species. The calm and freedom that you can breathe in is contagious to all those who visit the beach.
The sunsets from La Cocina beach are simply spectacular. The sun sets on the horizon over the north coast of Lanzarote, creating a spectacle of colours that is hard to forget.
If you have the opportunity to visit La Cocina beach, don't miss the sunsets. They are an experience you will not easily forget.
